The world is there just to love them, lol.

I have never taken mine either. You don't know who takes them and I'm always paranoid about parasites too.

And Gizmo is right!

I've never taken Gizmo to a dog park....for all those reasons.  Besides, Gizmo would just run toward every dog, friendly or not.  He thinks the world is just here to love him.  LOL

Harley does fine in an indoor setting with other dogs. This was her first experience like we had in this park. This park is more of a couple hundred acre, secluded area with very little traffic. Had no idea what we were in for. When it's something new and unfamiliar with Harley she always looks to Max and takes his lead. At home, Harley is queen of the hill and is very domineering since day one. Max is just an even tempered guy no matter where he is.

I'm sure she'll get over it soon.  I'll probably be running for my life too if 4 dogs, big or small, are charging towards me.  I put Dexter to doggie daycare 2 times a week so he can socialize with other dogs.  Usually they have 2 classes. One for small & young dogs and one for older dogs.  Dexter loves it.  He's exhausted when we pick him up.  Meo, you might want to try that.  I still envy you for having those too too cute puppies.  ^^ Good luck!

I agree Kathy! I know many folks like to visit dog parks, but the first thing my trainer (and the vet agreed) said was to never take Jasper to one. They have had a lot of serious injuries in my vet's office from 'accidents' at dog parks. Too many people don't watch their dogs and/or don't know the warning signs that something bad is about to happen. So as much as I would like to let him run free in a park, I won't take the risk.

My guys both have issues with meeting other dogs, especially on leash. They also like to control the speed of introduction and are quite reactive when approached head-on. This was Elliott from the outset, and I believe Spencer has unfortunately learned it from him as he depends on Elliott for everything! I have been told that this shyness is a common trait in Poodles, but who knows. Meo, our little tank Spencer is the dominant one in the house, but away from home he is also the more shy of my 2. Neither had problems in a class setting, seems to be an outdoor thing. Absolutely for sure, nothing "bad" happened to produce this behaviour. We are working with our trainer on confidence building with both of them. Personally, if I had 4 strange dogs running directly towards me, I would be with Harley! I have gone and observed dog parks here without the boys and decided that too much can go wrong, as some people just don't understand it's not a free for all, and they still need to be responsible for their dogs' behaviour.

When we got them , it was from a foster home, and Harley was the wild and playful one (with the other dogs in the foster family) and Max was just sitting there and taking everything in. That's how they are at home but when they go out it is exactly the opposite.

I agree with Laurie.  It always amazes me how different their personalities can be which is why it is so important to explore a puppy's personality as well as looks when choosing from a litter. Max and Harley's personalities seem to compliment each other well. Good choices!  And cute too!
