A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

Had to share this ya'll! So my oldest did something great at school and was able to pick what treat he wanted. Well, he wanted to take and "show & tell" about his dog, Pearl. Melted my heart when he said, "....she sleeps with me every night and she is my best friend." He wasn't embarrassed to say that at all. All this from a boy who has a lot of close friends. He named her Pearl the moment he saw her because she looked like a "round little pearl" according to him and they have been together since. Nothing like the love between a boy & his dog! I was so proud of his love for her.

Pris, you should be very proud of your son!!! What a wonderful young man he is. Dianne, as a teacher myself, I totally agree with you on the importance of teaching kids to love animals!! Although our district policy won't allow me to take Jasper to school, all my kids know about him and have seen pictures of him...a lot of pictures. I am hoping that once he is certified as a therapy dog, that I can bring him in a bit. I do take him to school with me when I have to go in on weekends. The thumb nail pic is Jasper sitting in front of my desk at school. :))

Dianne, yay - a former teacher (((hugs))) for your service!! The class had so many questions & they ALL gave her a hug as she walked the aisles, it was cute. One of the kids said, "Does anyone have allergies?" And I thought, "Oh no." But noone fessed up. Good info to know about cruelty to peers. I've heard that with adults relating to spousal abuse so it must be across the board.

Thank you, all! Your comments are so true & touching! After seeing Colby with his Pearl and how he cares for her (feeds her twice a day, takes her out, brushes her, always has her with him, even when his friends are over), I do believe he so empathetic and caring! In return, he knows she always is there for him. He comes home from school and just hugs her - like his decompression from the day! It's amazing to see how she waits for him & stays looking out the front door side windows when he is gone. To see all that love between them from an 'outsider's" view is truly a gift for me - just to see that kind of unconditional love happen. Bev, you are never oldies when you've got love with you & our fur babies are pure love!! I love your story - it's so cute!!!

Now that was a treat for his whole class, I'm sure!  Thanks for sharing.  I truly believe that when you teach children to love animals, it teaches them to love their fellow human beings as well (as a former teacher, I found that kids that were cruel to animals were also cruel to their peers - so thanks to you for raising your kids well!)

Oh this brings back memories of our first Golden Retriever, Ginger. My oldest son was 4 when we got her and they were inseparable. Then Ben came along and they made the funniest trio. In winter they would take her out in the snow, she would steal their mittens right off their hands and run around with them. They'd be out there crying and Ginger thought it was the best game. Miss those days. Now we're just a couple of oldies with dogs.
