HI Mabel, I think we should both start putting the pressure on Jana and Jim to come out for a visit...maybe between the 2 of us we could get them to join in on the fun :).  My email address is pamedb@yahoo.com and as soon as I figure out how to upload pictures I will get some out to both you and Jana... When will you be heading this way for the winter?

Hi Pam,  Hey,  like I said it took me about 35 years NOT to give in to the "people food" temptation:)  I won't tell Barney what your "fur children" get for treats:)  Barney is back to eating his Royal Canon again so all is well.  Yes, it sure would be fun for Jana to join us.  How about we exchange email addresses and exchange a few pics?  How could we do that?  Mabes

Hi Mabel,

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, hope things are going better with the food issues, I know sometimes it gets frustrating when our four legged children won't eat. You are a way better person than myself as each morning before I leave for work the pups line up for their morning treat...usually roast beef or chicken and every night after dinner they sit patiently waiting again...probably not the best habit but those eyes just can't say no to those eyes!! As for you trip my husband and I are both very excited about meeting up with you once you arrive and get settled in..I am trying to talk Jana into joining us...wouldn't that be fun!! Let me know when you get here and we can work out the details. Look forward to hearing from you.

Pam

Hi Pam,  Yes, it is the Palm Springs area so happy to hear we may be able to get together.  I know Barney would love it.  He does go every morning to the dog park in La Quinta and loves that as does his "Dad", ha as my husband Hank has met some "old guy friends" there as well.

Glad to hear about the food thing.  Jana, so fun to hear from you too.  I will check your website for your food and may try alittle wet food mixed too once in awhile.  Barney is on Royal Canon for Poodles and also sometimes the Royal Canon for picky eaters.  Our vet cannot BELIEVE that FINALLY after 35 yrs of dogs I have FINALLY learned to NOT give "people food"  I am terribly proud of that myself:)  mabes

Hi Mabel, Thanks for the reply, La Quinta is out by Palm Springs right? You will be about 1 1/2 hour drive from us so no you won't be too far.  We would love to meet up with you this winter just let me know when you get into town and we can set something up.  We have a trailer so possibly we could set up camp around that area for the weekend with of course our 4 legged children in tow :).

As for far as Barney being a picky eater...our dogs go through that every once in awhile.  Right now since it has been so hot they have been eating very little but once it cools down they start eating again.  If they don't eat within a certain amount of time I pick their food up and try again later.  But I also use the food from Jana's website mixed with some Blue Buffalo canned food since I can pick it up at the pet store and that seems to help... Good Luck with Barney and I look forward to hearing from you :) you can email me at pamedb@yahoo.com to let me know when you arrive.

I love you guys!!!! Thanks for the kind words.

As far as picky Barney...have you tried the food on my website?

I have always been told that as with children, when they are hungry enough, they eat. Also, their appetites fall off in the summer when it is hot so that is normal.

To wean puppies I always mix a Tbl of a good canned food with their dry. It works on them!

Hi Pam,  We live in bismarck, ND but are in La Quinta, Ca in the winter.  We have an incredible boy, Barney, 2 yrs old from Jana and Jim.   We totally agree that they are the BEST breeders:)  Do not know where in Ca you live but if anywhere near the desert, would love to get together with you next winter.  I do have  a food question.  Our Barney, 2nd generation tends to be a picky eater and will quite often skip meals.  Anybody else have a "child with fur " that does that?  Mabes
